Defendant removed tag and disposed of it behind a bar

A 25 years-old man has admitted a charge of causing criminal damage to his electronic tag.

Declan Grimes of Cross Street appeared in Derry’s Magistratess court on Friday morning.

It was revealed that when Grimes was arrested for breaching his bail on July 12th it was discovered he had removed his electronic tag.

Grimes made full admissions to removing the tag and said he had disposed of it behind a bar.

The tag was not recovered.

Defence solicitor, Mr. Keith Kyle, said that his client had co-operated with police.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report and Grimes was warned he would have to pay for the tag.

Grimes is due back in court on September 18.
