A 33-year-old resisted police after they tried to arrest him for an outstanding money warrant on Christmas Day.
Kevin Liddy, of Cromore Gardens, was stopped by police as he made his way home from Christmas dinner.
They discovered Liddy had an outstanding warrant for unpaid fines and attempted to arrest him.
The defendant was highly intoxicated and became verbally abusive. He kicked at the police car and attempted to kick out at the officers.
Defence solicitor, Paddy MacDermott, said his client felt ‘aggrieved’ the police decided to execute the warrant on Christmas Day.
Stating the behaviour was ‘unacceptable’, Deputy District Judge Ted Magill imposed a conditional discharge for 18 months.
