A disqualified driver who was caught driving twice in less than a week has been jailed for four months.
Robert Quigley, of Crannog Park, Strathfoyle, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified on August 26 and September 1.
He also admitted having no insurance and obstructing police, by providing false details.
Derry Magistrates Court heard the 21-year-old was stopped on Crescent Link and the Temple Road.
It was revealed Quigley was disqualified from driving for nine months earlier this year and he is in breach of a suspended sentence.
Defence counsel Eoghan Devlin said his client has a number of difficulties in his life ‘that are not of his own making’.
He added that Quigley would benefit from the help of probation and urged the court not to impose an immediate custodial sentence.
Jailing the 21-year-old, District Judge Barney McElholm also imposed an offender’s levy.
