A 33 year old man was arrested by detectives from PSNI Reactive and Organised Crime Branch in the Waterside area of Derry yesterday.

Police say the arrest followed the search of a house in the area and is linked to the seizure of a substantial quantity of steroids with a potential street value in excess of £30,000, which was intercepted in England, en route to an address in Derry. A large quantity of suspected counterfeit DVDs and electronic equipment was recovered during the search of the property.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted possession of class C controlled drugs, attempted possession of class C controlled drugs with intent to supply, conspiracy to supply class C controlled drugs, importation of class C drugs and copyright offences. He is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Tom McClure said: “We are grateful to our colleagues in the National Crime Agency for their timely assistance in this intervention. The PSNI is committed to policing the threat posed by drugs in Northern Ireland and will continue to work with our colleagues in NCA and elsewhere in relation to detecting those involved in the illegal supply of drugs.”
