A man was caught driving without insurance after he went to round up his father’s ducks, a court has heard.
Raymond Kennedy, of 19 Creggmount, Claudy, pleaded guilty to taking his father’s van without permission, no insurance, no L plates and driving unaccompanied on December 21, last year.
Derry Magistrates Court heard the 21-year-old has no previous record and only took the van because his father’s ducks had strayed.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said his client was trying to round the ducks up and wasn’t far from his home.
However, Mr MacDermott added Kennedy realises “he shouldn’t have been on the road.”
The 21-year-old was fined a total of £300 and given six penalty points.
