A man has appeared in court accused of causing £2,000 of damage to a roof after climbing scaffolding at the Long Tower Church.
Michael Joseph Gerard Stokes, of Collon Lane, is charged with criminal damage to the House in the Wells on December 21.
Derry Magistrates Court heard that Stokes allegedly climbed off scaffolding at the Long Tower Church and fell through the roof of the House in the Wells, causing £2,000 worth of damage. After freeing himself from the hole, the 33-year-old fell nine feet into the arms of a fireman.
Deputy District Judge Terence Dunlop refused bail with the ‘utmost regret’. Stokes was remanded in custody and will appear in court again via videolink on January 9.
