Hammer attack accused released on bail

A man charged in connection with an alleged hammer attack in the Waterside has been released on bail.

Andrew Bone, whose address was given on court papers as Shearwater Way, is charged with aggravated burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

He is further charged with possession of a hammer and grievous bodily harm with intent.

The charges relate to an alleged incident in the Ebrington Street area on December 22, last year.

Bone was released on his own bail of £750, with one surety of £750, to live at an address in Magheramason.

The 27-year-old is banned from entering Derry except for court appearances, must abide by a curfew and will be electronically tagged.

He is also banned form contacting the alleged injured party of witnesses and from consuming alcohol or non-prescribed drugs.

Bone will appear in court again on May 30.
