Jailed after throwing breeze blocks through house windows

A man who threw orange paint over a motorcycle and smashed windows of a house has been jailed for ten months.

Aaron David Millar, of Primity Park, Newbuildings, pleaded guilty to common assault, threat to damage property, criminal damage, making a threat to kill and improper use of communications.

The offences were committed between February 3 and 4.

Derry Magistrate’s Court heard substantial damage was caused to the motorcycle. The wing mirrors and indicators were damaged, the clutch ripped off and orange paint poured over it.

The 20-year-old went to the injured party’s house later that day and his clothes were covered with the same orange paint.

Millar also smashed the windows of a house by throwing breeze blocks through them and the homeowner sustained injuries as a result. He also made threats to damage another woman’s house and threatened her partner.

Jailing Millar, District Judge Barney McElholm also imposed a restraining order which bans the 20-year-old from going within 50m of any of the injured party’s homes.
