A woman who assaulted three police officers has been jailed.
Hannah Kerrigan, of Ferndale Road, pleaded guilty to assaulting police on April 19.
Derry Magistrates Court heard police approached the 25-year-old as she sat on the Foyle Road drinking from a can of cider. She was on bail conditions at the time which banned her from consuming alcohol.
Kerrigan called one of the officers a ‘black b******’ and kicked out with her feet striking him on the leg. She also kicked another officer three times.
When she was being transported to custody the 25-year-old attempted to headbutt and bite officers.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said his client was very intoxicated on this night and wished to apologise for her behaviour.
He added that Kerrigan has difficulties with alcohol and realises that behaviour like this ‘doesn’t help her’.
District Judge Barney McElholm jailed Kerrigan for three months and imposed a £25 offender levy.
