The brother of missing Derry man John Concannon was today checking CCTV footage after a fresh sighting placed him in the Buncrana area.

John’s brother Michael was heading to Umricam to review footage captured by a local engineering company and relating to a potential sighting from last week.

There has also been a separate sighting near the Halfway House pub in Tooban a few days earlier.

Mr Concannon said that in both instances the residents said they contacted the gardai as they thought it might be John Concannon and reported that the man they saw was acting erratically.

“The woman said she saw him at the other side of Buncrana and was adamant it was him.

“She had looked in the Journal and read the report on the Friday before and she said she saw him walking on the wrong side of the road.

“She said, ‘He looked over at me a couple of times and I said to myself, that’s the wee man that was missing’.

“We only heard that yesterday. She said there was CCTV and we spoke to the guy last night and I am heading down there to check it.”

Anyone helping in the volunteer searches is now being asked to concentrate on the area from Burnfoot to Buncrana.
