A Feeny man who admitted possessing a firearm and ammunition has been warned a custodial sentence is “almost inevitable”.
William Andrew Gibson, of Glenshane Road pleaded guilty to eight firearms offences relating to an incident on January 17.
They include possessing the revolver and ammunition in suspicious circumstances and possessing them without firearms certificate.
The 26-year-old also admitted cultivating cannabis in his home on the same date. Sentencing was adjourned for a probation pre-sentence report to be compiled. Gibson was released on continuing bail until October.
However, Derry Crown Court Judge Piers Grant warned the 26-year-old not to take the fact that he was getting bail “as an indication you will not receive a custodial sentence.
“It is almost inevitable a custodial sentence will be imposed”.
