A man who won over £6 million on the lottery has appeared in court accused of domestic violence.

Ryan Magee, of Monnaboy Road, faces four charges of common assault between August 1 and 2.

The charges relate to alleged assaults on a female.

The 34-year-old spoke only to confirm his details and that he understood the charges.

An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court he believed he could connect Magee to the charges.

Defence counsel Eoghan Devlin confirmed the case involved allegations of domestic violence.

He said a full file would be required.

The court also heard that a withdrawal statement ‘may be forthcoming’ from the alleged injured party.

Magee was released on continuing bail and banned from contacting the woman.

He will appear in court again on September 29.
