A man has admitted robbing two city centre bookmakers on the same day.
Darren Joseph Sweeney, of Bishop Street, pleaded guilty to the robbery of McLeans Bookmakers on the Strand Road and Foyle Street on January 15 during which almost £1,500 was stolen.
The 34-year-old also admitted possessing a firearm or imitation firearm with intent.
Derry Crown Court Judge Philip Babington said he was prepared to consider deferring sentence until January on medical advice to allow the defendant to recover from a recent operation.
Sweeney will appear in court again on October 23.
