A convicted sex offender has admitted a historical sex offence.

John Quigley, of Maybrook Mews, pleaded guilty to one charge of incitement to commit gross indecency.

The offence was committed between June 1 and December 2, 1980 when the injured party was a young boy.

Sentencing was adjourned for a probation pre-sentence report to be compiled.

Derry Crown Court heard that the 56-year-old has 14 previous convictions for indecent assault.

Quigley was released on continuing bail until February 23.
