A 34-year-old man has appeared in court accused of raping a woman at the weekend.
James Frickleton, of no fixed abode, is charged with raping and sexually assaulting a woman in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The charges relate to an alleged incident in the Limavady Road area of the Waterside.
An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court she could connect the 34-year-old to the charges.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said there was no application for bail at this time.
He also revealed that Frickleton came to live in the city last week and is originally from the Republic of Ireland.
The 34-year-old was remanded in custody and will appear in court again via videolink on November 13.
