Man asleep in coal bunker sent to jail

A man who was found asleep in a coal bunker by police has been jailed for possessing cannabis.

Stephen John Domer, who has an address in Omagh, pleaded guilty to possessing the class B drug and resisting police on July 4.

Derry Magistrates Court heard the 29-year-old was found asleep in a coal bunker at the Deanery, Bishop Street. They conducted a search and found a small amount of cannabis in his sock and Domer struggled with the officers as he was arrested. District Judge Barney McElholm imposed a one month jail term.
