A 37-year-old man has been fined for assaulting and resisting police during an incident at his sister’s home.
Gary Ryan, whose address was given on court papers as Academy Terrace, pleaded guilty to two charges relating to the incident in Ballymagroarty on November 26, last year.
Derry Magistrates Court heard police were called to an address in Ballymagroarty and when they arrived Ryan raised his arms as if he was going to fight police.
He then struck out an officer, pushing him against a wall and hit a second officer on the shoulder.
Defence solicitor Maeliosa Barr said his client had been at his sisters birthday party and a dispute arose when the 36-year-old had too much to drink.
Mr Barr said his client regrets his behaviour and apoligised for it.
Deputy District Judge Austin Kennedy fined Ryan a total of £300.
