A man who was abusive to staff at a homeless shelter has been fined at the local magistrates court.

Martin Patrick Paul McLaughlin, of Damien House, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on August 11.

Derry Magistrates Court heard the 41-year-old was abusive to staff at the hostel and threatened to damage a car.

McLaughlin was told he was no longer welcome at the hostel and he squared up to one of the staff members, telling him to watch his car.

District Judge Peter King fined McLaughlin £500.
