Man fined for “unacceptable” language

A man who was abusive to police in the city centre has been told his language was “completely unacceptable”.

Deputy District Judge Peter King made the comment as 42-year-old Stephen Cecil McKeegan was fined £150.

McKeegan, of Church Road, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on December 22, last year.

The court heard that the 42-year-old called a police officer a “w*****” and also made remarks referring to officers as “fenians and taigs”.
