Man has face slashed in Derry assault

A man has had his face slashed in an assault in Derry city centre.

Police said the 45-year old man was attacked as he walked along Northland Road shortly before midnight on Friday night (May 11 ).

“At around 11.50pm a 45 year old man was walking on Northland Road close to Clarendon Manor when he was punched to the back of his head by an unknown male,” a PSNI spokesman said.

“The man continued walking and was attacked again on Infirmary Road by the same unknown male and two other males. The man sustained two slash marks to his cheek in the incident. He was treated in hospital for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.”

The men are described as being in their late teens wearing baseball caps. One was wearing a grey coloured track suit and one was wearing a blue coloured track suit.
