Man suffers serious injuries in Derry assault

A man suffered serious injuries to his eye socket and hand when he was assaulted in a laneway in Derry.

Police say they are investigating the report of a serious assault on a man in the Foyle Crescent area in the early hours of Friday 1st January.

A spokesperson said: “Sometime between 1.30am and 2am the man was attacked by two males in a laneway which runs beside Foyle Crescent and sustained injuries including a fractured hand and eye socket as a result. Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information to contact officers in Strand Road on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
