Massive seizure ‘tremendous success’ in drugs fight - PSNI

Limavady PSNI Area Commander Chief Inspector Sam Donaldson has hailed last week’s huge drugs seizure as a “tremendous success” in the fight against drugs.

Speaking after last week’s seizure of almost £100,000 worth of drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, Mr. Donaldson said: “This is a tremendous success in the fight against drugs for the Limavady area. I am extremely grateful to the local community for their assistance in this investigation and can assure everyone that any information we receive in relation to drugs use and supply allows us to further our investigations and rid our neighbourhood of these deadly substances. Can I also take this opportunity to thank your local officers for their hard work in tackling drugs.”

Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín also congratulated the PSNI on the major drug seizure.

“The seizure of almost £100,000 in cocaine and cannabis in the Limavady area has to be welcomed and the PSNI congratulated for good policing,” he said. “As we all know drugs are a scourge on communities and to have this vast amount of drugs removed from the street will help save lives.

“This operation highlights the commitment of the PSNI to rid our communities of these lethal products and to bring to justice those who deal in death. I would urge communities to continue to work with the PSNI and other agencies in order to combat the drug menace.

“Sinn Féin will continue to work through the District Policing Partnerships and Policing Board to ensure that drug busting remains a priority on the policing plans.”
