Meadowbank residents to meet PSNI

Residents of Meadowbank Court will meet with the PSNI to discuss concerns about young car enthusiasts making noise in the area at night.

The issue arose after security barriers were erected at the former Budget DIY site at the bottom of Strand Road which prevented the motorists gathering there. They then began to congregate at a carpark opposite Meadowbank House.

SDLP councillor Shauna Cusack, who was involved in getting the security barrier erected, said; “No-one should have to tolerate this nuisance outside their homes, they should be allowed to live and sleep in peace without constant revving of engines, beeping horns, loud music and littering.”

Sinn Féin colr. Mickey Cooper said the police have a responsibility to address the residents’ concerns.

“I have now organised a meeting between residents of Meadowbank Court and the surrounding area with the PSNI to see what can be done to resolve this as quickly as possible,” he said.
