Peace bridge robber jailed for three years

A heroin addict who robbed a woman of her handbag on the Peace Bridge has been jailed for three years.

Robert Gannon, of Dunvale Close, pleaded guilty to robbery, attempting to convert criminal property and converting criminal property in February this year.

The 20-year-old received a determinate three year sentence, 18 months of which will be spent in custody with the remaining 18 months spent on licence.

His co-accused, 20-year-old Louise Wilson Swords was jailed for eight months.

Swords, of Strand Foyer, pleaded guilty to assisting offenders, attempting to convert criminal property and converting criminal property.
