A pensioner has appeared in court accused of indecently assaulting two boys fifty years ago.

Brendan O’Donnell, of Ardglen Park, faces two charges of indecently assaulting the boys, who were under 14-years-old at the time.

It is alleged the abuse took place between September 6, 1961 and February 26, 1964.

The 76-year-old declined to say anything in answer to the charges or to call any evidence on his own behalf. When asked by the clerk of the court he replied ‘not at this stage’.

A defence solicitor accepted there is a case for his client to answer.

O’Donnell was released on his own bail of £500 and ordered to reside at his home address.

The 76-year-old will appear at the city’s crown court for arraignment on August 20.
