A woman has been left badly shaken after a petrol bomb was thrown at the car she was driving in Derry.

The incident happened as the woman drove along the Glengalliagh Road in the Galliagh area of the city on Friday night.

Police at Strand Road Station have now launched an appeal for information about the petrol bombing incident.

Inspector Sam Shearer said: “Shortly after 9.05pm, it was reported that a petrol bomb was thrown at a black Peugeot 307 car as it was driving in the area.

“The female driver was not injured and the vehicle was not damaged, but the driver was left badly shaken. Enquiries are continuing.”

Inspector Shearer added: “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact Police at Strand Road on the non emergency number 101.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
