Detectives are appealing for information following the report of an attempted robbery at premises in the Academy Terrace area of Derry on Tuesday October 18.

At approximately 4pm a male entered the premises carrying a black holdall. He pulled an item out of the holdall which was wrapped in a plastic bag and pointed it at staff demanding money. No money was handed over. The suspect left the scene empty handed.

The suspect was wearing a red full zip hooded top with white writing across the chest, dark coloured tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Detective Sergeant Brian Reid would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this male in the vicinity or anyone who has information about the incident to contact detectives at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 843 of 18/10/16. Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
