Police launch appeal over assaults and burglaries

Detectives are appealing for information following reports of assaults in the Ballyarnett Road area of Derry on the morning of Sunday, March 1.

Just after 4.30am, police received reports of altercations in the area involving a number of people. Two men aged 30 and 20, and a 17 year old male, were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector John Wilson said: “Enquiries are at an early stage and we appeal for anybody who was in the area at the time to contact CID at Strand Road Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
