Police seek good Samaritan taxi driver

Police in Derry are looking for a taxi driver who stopped to help a the victim of a late night assault.

A PSNI spokeswoman says the driver stopped on Carlisle Road around 2.30am on March 28.

“It is understood the victim was attacked by a group of males as he was walking past a jeweller’s shop.

“The taxi driver, or anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 0845 600 8000 or a member of your local Neighbourhood Team directly – details can be found on the PSNI website.

“Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111,” she said.
