A woman was bought a canister of CS spray for her own protection, a court has heard.
Angela Sperou, of Knightsbridge, pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited weapon and driving with excess alcohol on March 8.
Derry Magistrates Court heard police searched the 48-year-old’s home and found the CS gas cannister in her wardrobe.
She arrived home during the course of the search and police suspected she had been driving under the influence of alcohol.
A breath test gave a reading of 81mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, more than twice the legal limit.
District Judge Barney McElholm fined Sperou a total of £250 and disqualified her from driving for 15 months.
