A Derry solicitor has become only the second lawyer from the north to be invited to join the world’s most prestigious family law academy.

Karen O’Leary, a senior partner at local firm Caldwell & Robinson, says she is thrilled to have been invited to join the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

“I am thrilled, excited and above all very honoured to have been invited into membership.

“This is the highest accolade available to me in my part of the profession. It goes without saying that I have promptly accepted the invitation.”

Tough criteria ensure only the world’s most accomplished and reliable family lawyers become members of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Internationally

Qualifying lawyers must have at least ten year’s experience and operate internationally as well as holding specialist accreditation.

They must also be recognised by their peers as one of the most experienced and skilled practitioners in their jurisdiction and demonstrate a high level of competence in international family law

Kerry native Karen, who has lived and worked in Derry since 1998, leads the family law practice at Caldwell & Robinson.

She has studied in England, the United States, Belgium and Ireland and is qualified to practise law in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, England and Wales.
