Police in Limavady have seized 300 unidentified tablets during searches of properties in the Co Derry town over the weekend.

Following one of the searches a 23-year-old man was arrested at an address in the Sperrin Road area on suspicion of possession of class B controlled drugs, possession of class B drugs with intent to supply, suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B controlled drugs, cruelty to children and possession of ammunition under suspicious circumstances.

Police say the man has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

During another search of a property in the Rathbrady Way area of the town 300 unidentified tablets were seized. Police say they have been taken away for forensic examination.

Chief Inspector Alan Hutton, Area Commander said: “Again we would stress to everyone who pursues this lifestyle to think very carefully about what they are doing.

“The advice is simple. Do not take illegal drugs and do not take prescription drugs that have not been prescribed to you.

We would ask members of the public for their continued support and co-operation in tackling drugs. Drug dealing is a concern for all in the community and tackling the supply, distribution and sale of illegal drugs is a policing priority.

“I would ask anyone who is aware of any individual involved in the supply drugs to contact local police on the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
