PSNI: Man arrested on suspicion of robbery

Police in Derry have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of robbery following an incident at a restaurant in the Spencer Road area on Monday, September 8.

Investigating the incident is Detective Constable Conor Gaile, who said: “Police received a report at around 8.50pm that a man had entered the restaurant armed with a knife and had attempted to take the contents of the till.

“He was unable to open the till but left the premises with other items including a handbag belonging to a staff member. No one was injured during the incident.

“The man whose description had been passed to police was arrested a short time later in Gortfoyle Place and is currently in custody helping with enquiries. I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident to contact CID in Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101.”
