Police are urging Roe Valley householders to be vigilant after reports of males in a black Ford Transit calling door-to-door looking for work power washing.

Limavady PSNI said on their Facebook page it happened rcently in Limavady’s Castle Gardens area and “it is believed the males with this van are targeting the elderly”.

Meanwhile, a Limavady man has joined the appeal for vigilance after he was approached by a male on Saturday, just after 5pm, offering to paint his shed roof.

The man, from the Drumrane Road area, said he was in the back garden cutting wood and “had put the chainsaw down on the ground when, all of a sudden, a silver truck pulled up and this guy ran down my drive at a wile speed towards the garden. I rushed up and stopped him and asked him who he was and what he wanted. He said he’d finished a paint job nearby and had paint left over and could paint my roof shed.” (See Page 5)
