Police at Strand Road in Derry are seeking assistance in identifying the occupants of a car who shouted racial abuse at a pedestrian.

At about 7.45pm on Thursday, March 5, a woman was walking at Orchard Street when she was verbally abused.

Constable Lafferty, the investigating officer, said: “The car was travelling down Orchard Street in the direction of Foyle Street towards her. As this vehicle passed, she heard at least two voices shout racial comments towards her.

“The woman continued to the bank machine in Foyleside shopping centre, returning onto Orchard Street a few minutes later when she observed the same car coming back down Orchard Street. Again, a number of racial comments were shouted towards her.”

The car is believed to have been a silver Skoda with an English registration. At least three people were in the car
