A Waterside man has appeared in court accused of drugs offences.
Brian Boyle, of Lisnavar Court, is charged with being concerned in the supply of class B drugs, possessing mephedrone with intent to supply and simple possession of mephedrone.
The 23-year-old is further charged with possessing criminal property on September 11.
Derry Magistrate’s Court heard allegations police saw Boyle acting suspiciously in the Magazine Street area of the city and searched him.
During the search it is alleged police discovered a clear plastic bag containing four deal bags filled with suspected mephedrone.
An investigating officer revealed a mobile phone and a sim card were also seized and these allegedly contained “extensive” incoming and outgoing messages relating to drugs.
Opposing bail yesterday, the police officer said the 23-year-old has an issue with drugs and police fear he would re-offend.
Deputy District Judge John Connolly refused bail and Boyle was remanded in custody to appear in court again via videolink on October 30.
