Sinn Fein councillor Sean McGlinchey has been arrested by police in Dungiven in connection with their investigation into paramilitary activity in the area.
Colr. Sean McGlinchey’s house in Dungiven is currently being raided and he has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning. His arrest is the seventh by police investigating paramilitary activity in the Dungiven area in recent days. Four of five men previously arrested by police in the investigation have been released unconditionally, while one man has been reported to the PPS.
Detective Chief Inspector Una Jennings, from Serious Crime Branch, said: “We are investigating various forms of paramilitary activity in the Dungiven area, predominantly over the last four years. These include shooting incidents and threats.”
