Shot fired through window in Creggan


A shot was fired through the front window of a house in the Creggan area of the city in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened in the Melmore Gardens area of the estate at 1am.

It was reported that a loud bang was heard by neighbours and upon arrival at the house, officers found the front window broken, strike marks on an inside wall and part of a bullet inside.

No-one was in the house at the time of the shooting.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information which may assist them with their enquiries to contact Strand Road on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
