Sniffer dog used in drug arrests at Snoop Dogg concert

Police in Derry have confirmed they made a number of arrests for alleged drug offences during the open air concert featuring Snoop Dogg.

A sniffer dog was used in the operation at the concert, which was attended by thousands of Derry people.

DJ Snoopadelic performed a three hour DJ set at the 16 plus event.

Police confirmed they made three arrests for alleged drugs offences at the Ebrington Square event.

Sergeant Cathal Pearce, of the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, said officers using a ‘passive detection dog’ were on duty at the scene.

Two youths aged 16 and 17 from County Armagh were arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class B drug; possessing it with intent to supply; and conspiracy to supply a Class B drug. They were later bailed pending further enquiries.

Separately, a man 23-year-old man from Derry was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class B drug and is to be reported to the Public Prosecution Service.
