Suspected drugs haul and arrests after car collides with PSNI vehicle

Two men have been arrested after suspected drugs worth £240,000 were seized after a car collided with a PSNI vehicle in Derry’s Waterside last night.

The arrests were made in Derry by detectives from PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch in a major operation on Monday night after a car that was searched in Victoria Road.

The car had been involved in a collision with a police vehicle at around 6.25pm.

It is understood that no-one involved required hospital treatment.

Victoria Road was closed for a time following the incident and reopened at 8.15pm.

PSNI Detective Inspector Alan Pyper said: “Two men aged 30 and 28 were both arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply following the find of approximately £240,000 worth of suspected cannabis in a car in the Victoria Road area of Derry.”

Inspector Pyper said that in a separate incident a 36-year-old man was arrested in the Hillsborough roundabout area when his car was stopped and approximately £60,000 worth of suspected cannabis was found last night.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B controlled drug and possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply.

“All three men currently remain in custody assisting police with their enquiries,” he said.
