A man who breached a court order by going to his estranged wife’s home has received a suspended jail sentence.

Darren George Large, of Friel Close, pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order on two separate occasions between September 11 and September 14.

Derry Magistrate’s Court heard the 37-year-old was banned from contacting his estranged wife and from going within 200 metres of her home. However, Large went to the woman’s home shortly before midnight and had an argument with her.

The following day, he sent the woman two text messages and tried ringing her.

On September 14, Large was spotted sitting in his car close to his ex-wife’s home.

It was confirmed he was there for the purpose of his work as a taxi driver.

District Judge Barney McElholm suspended a three month sentence for two years and fined Large £350.
