A teenager has admitted stealing a £1,200 boiler from a new build house.

Paul Morrison, of Belachmor Lower, pleaded guilty to the burglary of a property on the Steelstown Road in September 2013.

Derry Magistrates Court heard the 18-year-old went into a newly constructed house and stole the boiler, worth £1,200.

The boiler was never recovered and the construction company is at a loss as a result.

Adjourning sentencing for a probation pre-sentence report to be compiled, District Judge Paul Copeland said the defendant needed to thing about restitution before the next court appearance.

The judge added Morrison ‘knows where it is, where it went and what he got for it’.

Morrison will appear in court again on October 30.

As part of his bail conditions, the teen is banned from entering the Steelstown Road.
