A woman who hit a police officer on the back of the head with handcuffs has been jailed for a total of 12 months.
Hannah Duddy, whose address was given on court papers as Strand Road, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour, assault on police and resisting police on July 17.
The 19-year-old admitted a further charge of disorderly behaviour on August 2.
Derry Magistrates Court heard staff at the Strand Foyer called police to assist them with Duddy.
When officers arrived she became abusive and stormed out of the Foyer, kicking a door and threatening to ‘go crazy and f***ing wreck the place’.
Police arrested Duddy and she began to struggle violently. She kicked out repeatedly and hit two police officers on the leg.
As she was being taken to custody the 19-year-old hit another officer on the back of the head with the handcuffs she was wearing.
In August, police were also called to the Strand Foyer because Duddy had been verbally abusive and refused to leave.
She was drunk and began to shout loudly.
Duddy was warned about her behaviour and told to go home and sleep off the effects of the alcohol.
However, she told staff to ‘f*** off’.
