A Limavady teenager has appeared in court accused of a “savage and brutal attack” on two men.
Anton Gerard Kerr, of 26 Roeview Park in the town, is charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm on April 15.
An investigating officer told Derry Magistrate’s Court he believed he could connect the 18-year-old to the charges.
It was revealed one of the alleged injured parties sustained a fracture to the base of his skull, fractured cheek bones, a fractured jaw, broken teeth and cuts in the assault.
He is conscious but unable to communicate as a result of his injuries, the court heard.
The attack allegedly occurred when the victims saw Kerr arguing with his girlfriend and one of them warned him not to hit her.
The court heard that during police interview the teen admitted assaulting one of the victims but denied causing grievous bodily harm to the other.
Opposing bail, the officer said police feared Kerr would re-offend or interfere with witnesses.
Refusing bail, District Judge Barney McElholm said it was a “savage and brutal attack.”
He added there was a clear risk of further offending and witness intimidation.
Kerr was remanded in custody and will appear in court again via videolink on May 10.
