Thieves steal £25,000 catalytic converters

Thieves have stolen catalytic converters valued at £25,000 from vans parked in an industrial park in Derry.

Police say the theft occurred over the weekend at Campsie.

“Sometime between 5 pm on Friday 21 June and 8 am on Monday 24 June, thieves cut through a fence to gain entry to the yard and removed catalytic converters from 10 Mercedes vans parked there. Each catalytic converter will cost £2500 to replace making the total amount of replacement to the owner £25000,” a PSNI spokeswoman says.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area between Friday evening and Monday morning or anyone who has information regarding the theft is asked to contact police on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
