A broadband petition sheet can be signed at the front office of the Resource Centre. Lacking broadband facilities has greatly impaired local growth and investment and it is hoped this will be resolved.

Congratulations to Pearl Millar who won the Christmas Hamper in the resource centre draw. An amazing €900 was raised for the centre. The winner of the doll, Holly, was Margaret McNamee. The amount raided by the guess the age of the doll competition was €48.50. Congratulations again and thanks to all who supported these fundraisers.

A red tent was blown into the grounds of the Centre during a storm. If you think it belongs to you please call 91 48551 or call into the centre to collect it.

St. Johnston and Carrigans Community Employment Project are currently recruiting for the following posts which are based in St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre. 1 Youth Worker and 2 Environmental Workers. Participants on a CE Scheme are entitled to free training and work 19 and a half hours per week. They can take on other paid work as well outside the scheme. Forever Crafts will resume in the Old Playgroup on Tuesday 13 January from 1 to 3 pm. New members welcome.

50/50 Bonus Ball: Why not buy a Bonus Ball line at the Centre? It is only €1 and next week the winner could be you. The Bonus Ball is a fundraiser for the Centre.

Men on the Move takes place in the Resource Centre on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 pm and on Thursdays 6.45 to 7.45 pm.

Lunch Club: The first Lunch Club of the new year will be on Wednesday 14 January 2015. Are you fifty or over? Are you at a loose end? Would you like to meet and socialise with people of your own age group for lunch, a chat, a bit of craic, enjoy occasional outings, social events, information events and meeting new people? If you are interested, join us at the Lunch Club in St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre every second Wednesday from 11am-1.00pm. New members always welcome and why not bring a friend.

Walk and Talk Group: Put on your walking shoes! We meet at St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre at 7:15 pm every Tuesday. We go by minibus to different places for an enjoyable walking experience, tea afterwards in the old playgroup. If you wish to join us contact the Resource Centre on 074 91 48551 to book a place. The group suits all abilities and speed.

WW2: A history meeting themed around tracing your ancestors and family members in World War 1 will be held in the Centre. Saturday 24 January, 12 to 4 pm. Everyone welcome.

North West Regional College in Derry and Strabane has provided excellent training for many in the St Johnston Carrigans area. We just wish to remind everyone that the NWRC is now offering an exciting range of part-time courses starting in January 2015. The Good Morning Service newsletter can be picked up free at the reception in the Resource Centre. It contains lots of interesting information and articles on subjects such as elder abuse, flu, colds and protecting yourself when doorstep sellers arrive.
