Culmore security alert culprits condemned

Police have said that a suspicious object found in the area is currently being investigated.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Police in Derry are currently at the scene of a security alert at Ardanlee following the discovery of a suspicious object.

“A number of homes have been evacuated whilst the object is examined.

There are no further details at present.”

Colr. McCallion condemned those responsible for the alert.

She said: “There’s no support for these types of action in our community and those responsible have to stop immediately.

“Residents have been evacuated from their homes.

“Those behind this security alert have nothing to offer the local community.

“We don’t need or want these type of incidents happening in our city.”
