Opening times at Limavady library are to be reduced by eight hours.
The Board of Libraries NI had previously said it agreed “reluctantly” to review library opening hours in response to plans to cut £2.4 million from its budget.
The revised opening hours for Limavady library - 40 hours - has been approved by the Board, while opening hours at Dungiven library have been reduced from 25.5 hours to 25 hours.
The new opening hours will take effect from October 2015.
A spokesperson for Libraries NI said it will “now undertake a further period of local engagement with customers to agree the most suitable opening hours’ pattern for each library”.
Irene Knox, Chief Executive of Libraries NI, said: “We recognise that the review of library opening hours is difficult for our customers and our staff and we would like to thank everyone who has engaged with us during this process. Current library opening hours will remain unchanged until there has been a further period of engagement with customers regarding the actual pattern of opening hours in every library”.
The further period of consultation will take place from 18 May until 13 June and the resulting opening hours’ pattern will be implemented in October 2015.
