Fresh from her success at the An Comhdháil World Irish Dance Championships, Limavady girl Jessica Gault was this week honoured with a Mayoral reception.

The 10-year-old Central Primary School student won the solo heavy jig at the Dublin Event, attracting dancers from all over the British Isles.

The modest dancer says she enjoyed the experience and just loves to dance, so much so she would like to be a dance teacher when she gets older.

“Dancing makes me happy,”she said. “I practise four times a week.”

Jessica is a student at Scoil Rince Naomh Colmcille Charmaine Wade, who is delighted at Jessica’s success.

“Jessica is very talented, dedicated and very determined. She is the whole package really,” she said.

Mum Sharon is chuffed to bits with her daughter’s success.

“She has worked really hard over the past few months. She really deserves it.”

Limavady Mayor Sean McGlinchey said Jessica was a great example for other children.

“It’s a great achievement, She seems to be very dedicated and hard working, and is a great example for others.”
