The Very Rev Dr William Morton, Dean of St Columb’s Cathedral, has been appointed Deputy Lieutenant for Derry.

Deputy Lieutenants are appointed by the Lord-Lieutenant in recognition of public service. Dean Morton said he was both shocked and humbled to have received such an award.

Bishop Ken Good congratulated Dean Morton. He said: “Dean Morton is well known and respected in the diocese of Derry and Raphoe and particularly in the city where he ministers. His enthusiasm for both city and Cathedral life is unswerving and I am delighted he has received this honour.”
